'Illuminated Bread'

Like a second life emerging from the first, Illuminated Bread grew from my earlier bread print series. The original bread works were created on carbon paper, which is an incredibly delicate material, capturing the direct impressions of bread. My book is born out of the original prints but moves the conversation into another dimension. I began by placing the carbon paper prints on a lightbox, allowing light to travel through the paper's surface. What once recorded pressure and contact began to reveal translucency and hidden textures.
