Like a second life emerging from the first, Illuminated Bread grew from my earlier bread print series. The original bread works were created on carbon paper, an incredibly delicate material, which captured the direct impressions of bread. My book is born from these original prints but it moves the conversation into another dimension. I began by placing the carbon paper prints on a lightbox and so allowing light to travel through the paper's surface. What once recorded pressure and contact began to reveal translucency and hidden textures, giving life to the invisible.
This handmade artist book is a collection of photographs with the visual qualities of back-lit negatives, their surfaces recalling the soft familiar grain of a Xerox print. The book's images are printed on corn crush paper sourced through the food recycling processes of the corn industry. Brown baking paper (Butterbrotpapier) gently divides the pages, adding a soft division between images. The black velvety cover is wrapped in a soft, translucent waxed packing paper.
Every material within the book has been chosen with intention, serving both as symbol and metaphor for the work itself. The original carbon paper prints provided the foundation; the illuminated photographs open a new visual language. Together they form a dialogue between darkness and light, memory and revelation.

Illuminated Bread is a unique hand crafted artist book and comes in a custom made slipcase. I have created and designed this edition from beginning to end. Lovengly made with my own hands. Illuminated Bread consist of only 20 copies only. When you buy one of my books you are not simply purchasing a physical object, you also own a piece of artwork. You hold part of who I am, my memories and personal story.
Illuminated Bread is a handmade edition artist book of 20 copies.
Like any artwork, this book is best kept in its custom hand made slipcase. Always keep away from direct sunlight. Some pages inside the book are very delicate and you want to make sure to view the book placed on a flat surface.
Each piece is handmade and produced in a small edition so I’m not able to offer standard returns. I hope you understand because these books are created with a lot of care.
That said, if your book arrives damaged or something isn’t right, please email me within 48 hours of delivery with a photo and I’ll make it right. If I have another copy available, I’ll happily replace it; if not, I’ll offer a refund.
If a return is approved, the book must be sent back in its original condition and packaging within 7 days of approval. Buyers are responsible for return shipping costs and original shipping fees are non-refundable.
I recommend using a tracked and insured service, as I cannot be responsible for items lost or damaged in transit.
I try to keep things as sustainable as possible. Your book may arrive in carefully reused or recycled packaging, chosen to keep it safe while reducing waste.
*Important Tax Disclaimer: For international orders, please note that any customs fees, duties or import taxes are the responsibility of the buyer, as these are set by your local authorities and are outside my control.
